Engagement of Margaret & Will – Princeton, NJ

I recently had the honor of capturing my beautiful cousin Margaret’s engagement to the love of her life, Will. It was a true honor and I thought how sweet would it be to have them as the one’s to start something very special on the blog. In their own words, along with their pictures, they will share how they met and what it is that they love about one another. Sparking hope, love, some laughter and joy, as well as tears, for the romantics, proving that destiny has its way of connecting two people together at the very right time and how steadfast love, through any circumstance, conquers all.

How they met –

In her words :

The story of how we met is definitely one of those unexpected moments in life. Suddenly, when you weren’t looking for it, The most perfect person comes in and sweeps you off your feet. Let me start by telling you I don’t do blind dates. This is something I had never done before and I thought for sure it would be the last one. And boy was I right, it was the last first blind date I would ever have.

We met casually at a bar in New Brunswick and our old mutual friend who introduced us had shown me a picture of a different guy who is also named Will. So I’m pretty sure we walked by each other 4 to 5 times without even realizing who the other was. I know I was nervous and I was talking way too much In the  usual Maggie fashion. I way too animated with my hands and knocked the beer right to the ground, which got everywhere. I was so embarrassed and proceeded to apologize about 70 times and forcibly buy him another beer. It was the cutest thing, he used that opportunity to give me a kiss and I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so hard before. He’s been making me smile every day since.

In his words:

Maggie and I met through a mutual friend from an old job we both worked at. But we worked at different locations.  We since lost touch with that friend, but if I were to see her again I would thank her from the bottom of my heart for putting such a beautiful soul in my life.

We had our first date at a bar in New Brunswick called World of Beer. Through my vanity I did not wear my glasses that evening and it was hard to find her initially.   It was a very crowded place. Our mutual friend gave me a very blurry photo of her which was concerning, but to my pleasant surprise she greeted me with that big Maggie smile that we all know and love. It was so loud in the bar that I mainly just laughed and nodded to a majority of what she was saying just to be polite and contributed best I could. There was something about her aura that made me feel comfortable to be around her.  The bar quieted down as the night went on and we talked about all kinds of things. She mentioned that our mutual friend gave her a picture of some other guy with tattoos and crazy ear studs. I asked if she was disappointed or relieved to see me. She laughed and said yes very relieved. At one point she dropped her beer on me and the glass splashed on the floor.  Seeing how she was so embarrassed I told her it was alright and went in for a kiss to get her over the embarrassment and the rest was history!

What he loves about her –

In his words:

She also insisted on paying the bar tab that night. If you know anything about Maggie, she is so stubborn and generous. I love her for both of those attributes, but there are just several other things that I love about my future wife. She is so kind, considerate, intelligent, witty and charming.  She constantly surprises me and treats me so incredibly well. She is my partner in all things. She is the sunlight that breaks through my cloudy days. She is the rock that helped me weather the storms during the toughest times of my life. I am so incredibly grateful and lucky to have this stellar woman in my life. When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, she didn’t run. She helped me develop better eating habits and motivated me to take better care of myself. When my mother died, she was there to hold me even when I was dead weight. She was/am there for me through everything like I was/am for her. That will never change. Together she makes my life exponentially better and worth while. Celebrating our triumphs while picking each other up when we fall are the cornerstones of our relationship.

What she loves about him –

In her words:

The things I love about Will are endless. I know that sounds cheesy, but I really do find new things every day that I love and I appreciate about him. I feel like we come from the same mold and we have passions for a lot of the same things. And that is not even because we grew up with the same type of family and our dad‘s knew each other and worked together (I know, small world ). It’s because I know how important his family and friends are to him. He would bend over backwards to help anyone he loves. He has the biggest heart I’ve ever seen in another person. I have grown so much from being around him. In almost 6 years together, I have watched him challenge himself to better his health, be by his mom and his family’s side through her entire battle with cancer, and Grow with new opportunities in his career. He keeps me grounded, he calms me, and he uplifts me and pushes me to challenge myself. He believes in me and supports me. We have been through the most challenging and difficult times and the most happy if times. I knew I always had somebody there to talk to, to vent to, and someone to just hold me when I needed it. I couldn’t ask for a better man in my life, A better papa for kitties, or a better man call my future husband. I cannot wait to have many more adventures with a man who will always keep me on my toes for the rest of my life. I will love him endlessly ❤️
